Top 6 bucket list hotels

1. Icehotel, Jukkasjärvi, Sweden

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to stay a night at the original Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. I love novelty of it – sleeping on a bed of ice, staying in a hotel that will melt at the end of the season, and sleeping in reindeer pelts to keep yourself warm. And the opportunity to go dogsledding and see the Northern Lights sound pretty amazing too.

2. Burj al Arab, Dubai, UAE

Perhaps the most iconic building in the UAE. They call it the the most luxurious hotel in the world. Known as the only “7-star” hotel with all-suites with private butler service and a staff-to-suite ratio is 8:1 to ensure you are well taken care of. It’s gotta be done at least once.

3. Amangiri, Canyon Point, Southern Utah, USA

I’ve only come across this hotel somewhat recently, but a lot of its appeal is that it’s so close to my hometown. Only a 4.5-hour drive from Las Vegas. The scenery looks stunning, with gorgeous terraces and an amazing looking pool built around a massive rock.

4. Ananda, near Rishikesh, India

This is a fairly recent addition to my list after hearing two couples discuss it on a recent holiday. This wellness retreat in Rishikesh in the foothills of the Himalayas. It’s a bit of a trek as you have to fly into Mumbai or Delhi, then catch a connecting flight to Dehradun before getting a cab for another 45 minutes. However it sounds like it’s worth it.

5. Alila Jebel Akhdar, Nizwa, Oman

This is another recent addition to my list. Always looking for new and unique destinations that I’ve not been too which aren’t too far from home. This one’s another hotel off the beaten path. It’s a 2.5-hour drive from Muscat International Airport and only accessible with a four-wheel drive.

6. Kasbah Tamadot, near Marrakech, Morocco

I’ve always wanted to go to Morocco, but only interested in seeing it in style. Richard Branson’s luxury hotel in the Atlas Mountains outside of Marrakech and looks like a palace – think that will do the job.
